With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Philip Earl Koppenberg on February 6, 2025, in Bagley, MN, at the age of 96.

Philip was born on April 22, 1928, in Bungo Township, Minnesota. He was a man of warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family. He had a deep passion for music and was a talented musician. While the piano was his instrument of choice, he had the remarkable ability to play nearly any instrument he picked up. His love for music brought joy to those around him and will be remembered as one of his many gifts.

Philip also had a love for travel and adventure. He could drive just about anything on the road and was known for his scenic back dirt road trips, always finding beauty in the journey as much as the destination. His true passion, however, was riding motorcycles. He took great joy in hitting the open road on two wheels and continued riding until he was about 88 years old, embracing the freedom and thrill of every ride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel (Huffman) Koppenberg and Gustav Koppenberg; his siblings, Rose, Bruce, and Donald; and his beloved son, Steven Koppenberg.

Philip is survived by his loving children, Pamela (Koppenberg) Murack and her husband, David Murack, and Mark Koppenberg and his husband, Steve Nau. Daughter in law Carey (Steven) Koppenberg. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to many, leaving behinda legacy of love and cherished memories. His devoted partner, Arlene Husby, was by his side,

bringing joy and companionship to his later years.

Philip’s kindness, humor, and steadfast support enriched the lives of those around him. His presence will be dearly missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those who knew him.

May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so freely gave in life.
