About Pete

Peter Wolterstorff, 91 of Fridley, MN died on March 24, 2023 with his wife Tena at his bedside.

Pete was born on July 1, 1931 in Osceola County, IA. He was the fourth oldest son in a family with 12 children. From August of 1952 to May of 1954 he served with the 461st Infantry Heavy Mortar Battalion in the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Tena Zylstra on June 28, 1957 in Sheldon, IA. They soon left Iowa and moved to Coon Rapids, MN and then eventually to Fridley, MN where they lived since 1966 and raised their 4 boys.

Pete worked for Cummins Diesel as a mechanic for 30 years. After retirement, Pete kept busy doing charity work and continued involvement with Faith Christian Reformed Church.

He is survived by his wife of almost 66 years Tena and his sons – Dwayne (Lesley), Sid (Sue), Greg (Jennifer) and Ken; Nine grandchildren – Jasmine Wolterstorff, Logan Wolterstorff, Mackensie Wolterstorff, Dillon Wolterstorff, Rachel Scobie, Maureen Garrett, James Garrett, Matthew Garrett & Gracelyn Kleindl; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Nick Wolterstorff, Herb Wolterstorff, Jeanette Wolterstorff, , Nell Frieling, Katherine Vander Veen and Julia Dykstra.
