About Pete
Gary “Pete” Everhart, 69, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Pete was born on February 10, 1952 in Bagley, Minnesota to Herb and Arline (Olson) Everhart. He grew up in Bagley and during his High School years he worked at the Headwaters Sawmill among other places. After graduating from Bagley High School in 1970, Pete started his Electricians journeyman apprenticeship under Corky Leikness. He went on to attend a year at Dunwoody Industrial Institute, and after 5 years as an apprentice electrician, he became a Class A Master Electrician.
From 1972 to 1984, Pete owned and operated his own business, Everhart Electric. He went on to work for Clearwater-Polk Electric Coop in 1984 for 16 years before going back to running his own business, this time with his son, Mike. Pete was a member of the Bagley Firefighters for over 20 years.
Pete married Mary Ann Gesell and they had two sons together, Jeff and Mike. They later divorced. Down the road, Pete met and married Pam Crandall. She and her two sons, Bill and Shane, joined the Everhart family.
Pete worked hard and played hard. He loved almost everything to do with the outdoors, from hunting, fishing, to shooting, especially skeet shooting. Camping was a weekend tradition for him, starting when he was a teenager and continuing up until the last few years when his health became worse. Every weekend, Pete was up at Red Lake, Cass Lake, Buffalo Bay, or somewhere camping and taking in the outdoors.
He enjoyed spending time with all his boys, particularly the annual deer hunting weekends at “The Waterhole”, his log cabin in the woods. Other favorite pastimes include drag racing and watching Westerns, pretty much anything with Clint Eastwood in. Pete was a big history buff and got a real kick out of winning at Trivia Nights.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Everhart; his children, Jeff (Amanda) Everhart and Mike (Jackie) Everhart; his stepsons, Bill Linehan and Shane (Amelia) Linehan; his grandchildren, Jerzey, Remington, Jeffrey, Ryeley, Sylis, and Maija; his mother-in-law, Evon Crandall; his brother-in-law, Gary (Karen) Gesell; sister-in-law, Debbie(George) Vorderbruggen; special nieces, Mary Gerbracht and Eva Vorderbruggen; many other nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Arline Everhart; his grandson, Riley Linehan; his sisters, Joan (Marv) Stavig and Ruth (David) Vorderbruggen; his special cousin, Kay (Gene) McBain; and his brother-in-law, Billy Gesell, Steven Crandall and father-in-law Arnold Crandall.
