About Pat
Patrick J. Sammon, 68, of Venice, Florida, and East Bethel, Minnesota, passed away on September 17, 2021. He was born March 25, 1953 in Freeport, Illinois, to Paul E. Sammon and C. Jean Thorp Sammon. His early childhood years were spent in Stockton, Ill. and Alexandria, Virginia. He moved back to the Midwest in his teen years and graduated from Orangeville, Ill., High School in 1971.
He attended college in Freeport, Ill., and then embarked on exploring opportunities and careers that took him to the Chicago area and back "out east" to Virginia where he began a long career with the U.S. Postal Service. He transferred to the St. Paul District of the USPS in Minnesota where he was a regional manager at various locations including Apple Valley. After 30+ years in the postal service, he retired and divided his residency between Florida and Minnesota with Joanne, his wife of 29 years.
Pat and Joanne Busby were married in Winona County at Great River Bluffs State Park in July 1992. Both enjoyed traveling, going to NASCAR races and baseball games, attending festivals and craft shows, and time spent with family. Pat became a genealogy buff in his retirement years and enjoyed making connections with newly-discovered relatives.
Summers in Minnesota meant seeing kids and grandchildren, enjoying camping, swimming, sightseeing trips and spending time with friends and family. The colder months spent in Florida allowed them to enjoy the more moderate weather, entertain family and friends who visited to also escape the cold temperatures plus get together with other "snowbirds" seeking respite from the harsher climates of the Midwest and North.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne, of Venice, Florida; sons Jason (A.J.) of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and Jared of Rosemount, Minn.; step-daughters Karma Busby (Brandon Tuttle) of Minneapolis; Nova Busby-Else (Ryan) of St. Anthony; grandchildren Lola Busby, Rose Sammon, and Skylar Else; sister Julie (Richard) Zuehlke, of Alexandria, Minn.; and brother, Phil (Teri), of Alexandria; nieces and nephews, grand-nephews, and a great-grand-nephew.
He was preceded in leaving the planet by his parents and two infant sisters.
