About Pat
Patrick Dennis Scholz, “Uncle Pat”, 75, of Bemidji passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved wife Sharon by his side after an 8-month battle with leukemia. While we mourn his departure from this world, we are grateful that he has left all suffering behind to revel in eternal life.
Preceded in death by his mother Delma and father Robert Scholz, stepmother Dorothy, siblings Roberta, Joan, and Michael, other loved ones.
Survived by his wife Sharon Beighley, sisters Penny and Judy, other kith and kin including Harriet (Dennis), Robert (Monica), Abigail (Casey), and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
We look forward to sharing stories and memories with those who loved Patrick at his Celebration of Life, as obituaries are remiss in conveying what one life meant to so many lives over 75 years.
Being a U of MN Alumnus with a BA in History, over his lifetime Pat was involved with numerous social and charitable organizations, civic engagement, and he remained attuned to current regional and world events up until his passing. Upon his retirement he devoted himself to volunteering in the Bemidji area, with special dedication to Great River Rescue and his duties as secretary for the Blackduck Senior Center.
Service to others wasn't limited to organizations, for Patrick it was a way of life – constantly finding ways to discreetly assist folks he knew could use a helping hand, Uncle Pat was not only a Samaritan - he made every effort to provide a voice for the voiceless; both man and animal alike. All creatures were worthy of his love, but he never left the house without ensuring he had a few dog treats tucked in his pocket – ready to make a new canine friend any day. In the spirit of his passion for creatures great and small, we ask those who may feel compelled to send flowers to instead donate to your local animal shelter in Uncle Pat's honor.
