life story

A loving mother, wife, daughter, and friend

Early morning on December 23rd her beautiful soul passed over. She was in the care of her family at home. Taken too soon after bravely battling cancer. She will surely be one of the brightest angels shining down, just as she did here with us. She was the life of the party, and made friends wherever she went.

Patty was a popular lunch lady at Lake Elmo Elementary for 20 years, and known for her “cheese or pepperoni” song on pizza days. Making sure everyone ate was important to her (being a lunch lady and all). Even if you weren’t hungry she made you something for later. She cared for everyone before herself. She loved going out to eat with friends and family to celebrate birthdays or just to get out of the house. It was always quite the adventure.

She would be your biggest cheer leader/supporter. You knew she was there once you heard her famous whistle. She made sure everyone was seen and taken care of. This is why everyone loved her and why she was so special. She left a mark on everyone she met.

She was also a great amateur photographer, doing weddings and senior pictures. She was a talented, creative artist from painting to little sketches. You knew she was concentrating on something if there was a little sketch somewhere on a paper. Patty was kind, funny, generous, and always stayed positive even during her illness. The world was a better place with her in it.

She is survived by her mother Phyllis Betts, devoted husband Ed Pelto who took excellent care of her through her illness, son EJ, daughter and sidekick Savannah (Ryan Travis) granddaughter Letty who is due in March, plus many other family members and friends.

Proceeded in death by her father and brother.

A celebration of Patty's life will take place May 17th, 12-3.
