About Patricia

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Patricia Jean McGlashan Waller, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who passed away peacefully April 26th, 2025 in Chisago City, MN.

Patricia was born in Chicago on November 12th, 1929 and was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Clinkenbeard, father, Andrew G. McGlashan, Sr., and only sibling, brother Andrew G. McGlashan Jr.

Patricia graduated from York High School in Elmhurst IL in 1947 and married John Fred Waller in 1948. Together, they had 4 children, Christina Jean, Dana Rue, Scott Randall (2016), and Shanda Jo, and had a wonderful life together. They bought a cabin on Lake Nancy in Wisconsin which they shared for many years with friends and family. John was a pilot and taught Pat to fly, leading to many adventures in single engine aircrafts. Patricia was an active member of the First Congregational church of LaGrange, and the leader of Campfire Girls troops for many years. She was an avid golfer and bridge player, and loved playing all kinds of games. She worked for her family's business, Rose Packing Company, in Barrington IL, where she also lived, on a golf course at Lake Barrington Shores. She was very active in the Lake Barrington Shores community and volunteered for years at Good Shepard Hospital.

She also spent winters in Marco Island and Largo Florida, which became a second home for the kids and grandkids. When driving from Barrington to Florida became too much to do by herself, the grandkids would fight over who got to drive her back and forth...they have wonderful memories of their time with Grandma! Patricia was known for her infectious smile and laugh, always positive and fun! She wore capris when they were still called pedal-pushers, always had dogs and cats in her life (Inky, Dinky and Stinky for the kids, and Jubilee, Chevas and Hazel for her companions), and traveled the world with her kids (she loved cruises)...Alaska, Scotland, Hawaii, the Carribean! The last 3 years of her life, Patricia lived in an assisted living apartment in Minnesota near her youngest daughter, Shanda, and her family. She happily enjoyed family gatherings and always had a big smile to greet her many friends and frequent visits from family.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Christi (Michael D. Zenisek, 2015), Dana (Leo E. Schueneman), and Shanda (Benjamin R. Lewis), grandchildren (James, Michelle, Andrew, Carol, Tanya, Noah, Beth, Erin, Jacob, Zachary), their spouses (Eric, Matas, McKenna, Thanuji), great- grandchildren (Bella, Layla, Reed, Michael, Annie, Ben, Sarah, Katie, Justin, Jessica, Brandon, Mason, Dillon, Trisha, Alexandra (2023), Anaka, Kaleb, AriElla, Rowan, Allister, and Teagan), and great-great-grandchildren (Elise, Myra, Camile, Daphne, Jamison, Ezra, and Zaidyn) as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.

Celebrations of life will be held in Wisconsin, Barrington and Florida and will be coordinated with the spreading of her ashes... she was greatly loved and will be greatly missed!
