life story
Patricia Anne “Tish” Madden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Golden, Colorado.
Born on August 18, 1948, in Montgomery, Alabama, Tish was the daughter of Colonel William and Betty Welch. Growing up in an Air Force family, her early life was shaped by a spirit of curiosity and creativity that guided her throughout her years. That same spirit led her across the globe in pursuit of artistic inspiration and personal growth.
A gifted artist with a deep appreciation for beauty and culture, Tish studied art at both the University of Madrid, Spain, and the University of Florence, Italy—two cities that profoundly influenced her creative journey. While living in Madrid, she served as a docent at the renowned Prado Museum, where she shared her passion for art history with visitors from around the world. It was also in Madrid that she met the love of her life, Jim. Their shared love of travel and adventure became a cornerstone of their life together as they began their marriage in that vibrant city.
Tish’s artistic talent was evident not only in her studies and museum work but also in the beautiful pieces she created throughout her life. Her artwork remains a cherished part of her family’s home—a lasting testament to the warmth, creativity, and joy she brought into their lives.
Tish and Jim later settled in Liberal, Kansas, where they raised their daughters, Ashlee and Deborah. Her daughters were everything to her, and she cherished her role as a mother above all else.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James Madden; daughters Ashlee Falivene and husband Ian Falivene, and Deborah Brannon and husband Shawn Brannon; beloved grandchildren Madelyne and Liam Falivene, and Morgan and Ryley Brannon; and her sisters, Barbara Gordon and Kippy Davis. Her family was the heart of her world, and she delighted in every moment spent with them.
Tish was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel William and Betty Welch.
Her life was a beautiful canvas—filled with color, love, and adventure—and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
