Pamela JoAnne Johnson (née White)

October 9, 1952 – September 2, 2025

Oak Grove, MN, USA

Pamela JoAnne (White) Johnson, age 72, of Oak Grove, Minnesota, passed away on September 2, 2025, surrounded by family.

Pam was born on October 9, 1952, in Little Falls, MN, to Gayle and Coral (Sterr) White. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Johnson, and her parents.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Stixrud III; children Coral-Lyn (Paul) Wyman and Nathan (Cori Linn) Johnson; stepchildren Robert (Julie) Stixrud IV and Robin Stixrud; granddaughter Renee Stixrud; siblings Lynda (Jeff) Bergeron, David White, and Jeff White; brother-in-law Al (Linda) Johnson, sister-in-law RoseAnn Johnson and families; and special cousin, Roxy (Henry) Brede.

She adored being “Grandma Pam” to Mackenzie, Alexis, Paige, and Jett- who fittingly enough have initials that spell PAM J! She also loved her “grand-dogs” Roxy and Siri, and her special “grand-cat,” Emmie.

Her love extended to her nephews Joshua (Shannon) Bergeron, Justin (Kathy) Bergeron, and Jacob (Kristy) Bergeron; great-nieces and nephews Preston, Easton, Keaton, Ailee, Neela, Garioch, and Jameson; and her great-great niece, Tatum.

Pam deeply valued friendships and was blessed with lifelong friends Patti Jo (Dave) Berger, Edie (Jim) Lannon, Cindy (Jason) Brown, and Sheryl (Paul) Wyman.

She also held close gratitude for the caregivers and hospice team who supported her final days: Jordan and Holly of Allina Hospice, along with Lynn and Kaylee of Cornerstone Caregiving, and Teresa, who cared for her with love and compassion.

Pam dedicated her career to special education, retiring after years of teaching with boundless creativity. She infused her teaching with music, skits, humor, and, of course, breathing exercises. She loved playing the piano, especially Christmas carols. A gifted writer, she authored the children’s book series "Tanuki and Friends", with books one, "Tanuki: Meeting New Friends", and two, "Tanuki: Fun with Friends", currently published. Books three and four are due to be published in 2026 with illustrator and talented friend, Jamie Myers. Stay tuned! She loved teaching Sunday school, guiding children in their faith, and living out her own deep trust in Jesus Christ. With scripture memorization as a focus, she instilled in everyone the importance of carrying God’s Word in their hearts and inspired them to build a strong foundation of faith to carry throughout their lives. She made learning about Jesus both joyful and meaningful for everyone she taught.

In 2022, Pam was diagnosed with stage four endometrial cancer, and although the prognosis was grim, she fought to live 1,124 days- a miracle her family will always celebrate. Forever optimistic and hopeful- she endured chemotherapy, radiation, and clinical trials with grace and grit, giving thanks for the extra time these treatments allowed her with her family. She took joy in the three more Christmases, Easters, and birthdays she got to be a part of- a gift she treasured deeply. It was important to Pam that her family and friends knew that she was trying every possibility to stay Earthside as long as possible.

Her final month was marked by courage, strength gained from loved ones, and her unshakable faith in Jesus. After a fall and a broken back, with no more treatments to try, Pam went into hospice care at her home. For those ten days of hospice, she was surrounded by the love and care of her tribe with husband Robert, sister Lynda, brother David, and cousin Roxy, who never left her side. CJ, Nate, Paul, Cori, Kenzie, Lexie, Paige and Jett made her last week a beautiful full house, the kind that only togetherness can create. Her final days prompted forgiveness, compassion, love, joy and gratitude. Pam found peace in knowing another miracle had come: eternal life with her Lord and Savior. So if you're counting- that’s at least two miracles!

Pam will be remembered for her generosity, creativity, humor, and love of learning. She delighted in decorating her home, shopping on Amazon, and pouring herself into her grandchildren. Even in death, she wanted her life to be a lesson- a reminder to care for your health, body, and mind. So do it- go to the doctor, make the appointment you've been putting off, and do what you can to make your body as strong as it can be. Learn from her- she was and still is an excellent teacher!

The family will be having a private celebration at a later date. In honor of Pam’s love of children and education, memorials may be directed to Amazon (lol); buy her books "Tanuki: Meeting New Friends: Book 1" and "Tanuki: Fun with Friends: Book 2" and get them in the hands of young readers! AND you can memorize this bible verse:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.

Proverbs 3: 5-6

Her spirit, tenacity, and love will live on in all who knew her.
