Norma Langehough

life story
Gathering with friends and family was the highlight of her life. She loved to make delicious food, and to share it with those she loved.
Steve and Joan bought Mom a new sweater for Mother's Day in 2022 and she loved wearing it. She loved having fresh flowers on her table, and like the flowers, brightened all of our lives. She'll live in our hearts forever.

Star Tribune Obituary from 8/24/22
Norma Jean Langehough, 95, of Golden Valley, MN. Died peacefully after a brief illness on August 10th at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Born 3/14/27 in Tracy, MN to Neil Peterson and Frances Swoffer and grew up with siblings Sonia and Virginia in Walnut Grove, MN, graduating as valedictorian of her class. She lost her mother to MS shortly before leaving for St. Olaf College, where she met Milford, her future husband. They shared many adventures traveling to Norway, England and Mexico, and loved to spend time at their cabins in Lutsen, MN. Norma and Milford were together for 70 years – their only time apart was the year she spent skiing and teaching in Idaho while he finished college after serving for two years in the Navy. Norma returned to Augsburg for a library science certificate while raising three children, and worked at Webster Elementary school in North St. Paul for 10+ years as a school librarian.
She loved her family and made a number of trips to New York and New Jersey to visit her children and grandchildren Adam and Ian. She will forever be in their memories and affections. Norma had many friends at her church and co-op communities. Norma was a great volunteer for 40+ years, working with immigrant families, serving for Loaves & Fishes, and working at the food shelf, among other activities. She enjoyed reading and had a curious mind, always asking questions and enjoying learning new things. She loved her pets and liked to attend church lutefisk dinners. Norma was an excellent cook, and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with Sunday dinners. She was glad to continue living on her own after Milford died, with the help of family and friends. She will forever be in our hearts.
Survived by children Steven (Joan Ferrell) and Jean (Alanna Walen) Langehough; grandsons Adam (Anna) and Ian Langehough; great-grandson Jude August Langehough; half-sisters Deb Warner, Nora Feldt, and Sara Peterson; and many dear friends and relatives. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters, husband Milford and son Tom Langehough.
