life story

A loving son, brother, uncle and friend.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Nicholas “Nick” Ecker, age 38, who left us far too soon.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bob, whom he missed dearly.

Nick was a devoted and loving son to his mother, Mary, and a caring brother to his sisters, Tami (Ryan) Bertram, Ashley, and the fun, endlessly silly uncle to his nephew, Bentley and niece, Kristalynn, who adored and cherished every moment spent with him.

With his quick wit and contagious laugh, Nick had a gift for brightening every room he entered.

Nick was a skilled mechanic, known for his incredible talent and passion for fixing things, often working with family and friends on projects that showcased his expertise. He had a natural gift for working with his hands, and his attention to detail made him the go-to person for all things mechanical. Whether it was cars, trucks, or side-by-sides, Nick was always there to help, sharing his knowledge and love for all things that ran on engines.

His passion for mechanics extended into his love of racing, especially riding his side-by-side, where he found freedom, excitement, and joy. Nick lived life to the fullest—in the fast lane and always on the go—embracing every adventure with energy and heart. Whether tearing down a trail, taking on the next project, or simply enjoying the outdoors, he found happiness in movement, discovery, and the thrill of the ride.

He was a man with a huge heart, always the first to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer support without ever expecting anything in return. A loyal friend, a fierce protector, and someone you could always count on, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Nick’s sudden passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on—in the laughter of his niece and nephew, in the memories held by his family and friends, and in every engine he brought to life.

In his memory, take a ride, fix something, laugh a little louder, and love those around you—just as Nick always did
