life story
Follower of Jesus, Mom, & Grandma
Nellie Elizabeth Sealy (Wallestad) daughter of Herman and Hildur Wallestad, born on August 25, 1946, in Roseau, Minnesota, went home to Jesus on May 14, 2021. Funeral service will be on May 22nd at 10 am at the Free Lutheran Church in Roseau.
She was a member of the Free Lutheran Church in Roseau, and while living in the cities, she attended Minnesota Valley Church in Lakeville. Nellie was a Christian who passionately shared her faith with everyone and loved on everyone she met. She spent many years volunteering at nursing homes, knitted dish clothes for people, and handmade cards for everyone on their birthdays (200+ people). In 2020 she stamped and colored wooden crosses & hearts for 140 nursing home residents as well as for over 200 residents where she lived to brighten their lives and give them something cheery during the difficulties of COVID. She adored and is adored by her family. Nellie was always up for a game of Dominoes, Rack-O, or cards. Nellie was an inspiration with how she endured intense medical suffering with such an amazing attitude and she wrote her story down in a book called, Finding God’s Peace. The last 6 months she endured intense pain and so looked forward to entering heaven to be with her Savior.
Survived by her daughter Sherrie Veer and son-in-law Daryn Veer; her grandchildren Hannah Veer, Carrie Horwath (William), Rebecca Veer, Candi Rekedal (Spencer), Diana Opseth (Joshua), Molly Veer, Kaylynn Veer and Joshua Veer; her great grandchildren Jonathan Opseth and Benjamin Opseth; and her siblings Paul Wallestad (Ruth), Anne Erickson (Farrell), Austin Wallestad (Paula), and Ida Modahl (Terry). Preceded in death by her husband Robert Sealy, parents Herman and Hildur Wallestad, and her siblings David Wallestad and Arvid Wallestad.
My mom
My mom loved people so much and she never passed up an opportunity to share Jesus and how wonderful He is with everyone. She loved volunteering at the nursing home when she was able. Spending time with her family was a big joy to her. Before she entered heaven she kept telling me to tell so many people how important they were to her. If you are reading this, you are one of those people. Thanks for the years of friendship and investment into my mom's life. Serve God always and we will see her again in Heaven.
