About Nancy
Surrounded by her loving husband and family, Nancy Lee (Rogers) Fladung passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022, at Tamarack Court Assisted Living in Bemidji, MN.
Nancy was born on September 2, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois to Thornton and Ethyl Rogers. She met her handsome “two-legged deer” husband, Jerry (Jerome) Fladung, during a dance at Shaw’s Barn near Blackduck, MN. They were married on August 31, 1957, and celebrated 64 years of marriage in 2021.
They lived in Blackduck for over 40 years where Nancy became a charter member of the Blackduck Garden Club, and many other organizations supporting the community. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary throughout her lifetime.
Nancy was a vibrant, adventurous, and beautiful woman. A few of her many and varied talents and hobbies included Brazilian embroidery, beadwork, painting, gardening, floral arranging, bowling, and theater. She had a love for hot air ballooning, flying, race cars and the desert Southwest.
Although her greatest love and the place she felt most at home, was Upper Red Lake, on the homestead of her grandfather. Nancy’s love for entertaining family and friends was evident by the wonderful meals she prepared. As she would say, “she fed them all and she fed them well.” She was fondly referred to by some of the staff at Tamarack as “Fancy Nancy,” no doubt due to her love of jewelry.
Nancy is survived by her husband Jerry, her children Lynn (Wayne) Walstead, Roger (Jayne) Fladung, and Jeff Fladung. Her grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Thron, Ryan Kraft, Whitney (Rob) Moore, Erin Toothman, Christian Fladung, great-grandchildren Lyndsey Thron, Parker Fox, and two sisters, Gail Henry and Connie (Fred) Gunderson, along with many nieces and nephews.
