Nan R. Graf

Nan was born on December 14, 1949, in Indianapolis and raised in South Bend. She was the only child of Dr. John and Nancy Graf. Nan was the devoted mother of Daniel Graf-Grynheim, the proud grandmother of Aubrey Graf-Grynheim, and the loving partner of two years to Butch Graham.

Nan graduated from Indiana University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. For the past 26 years, she dedicated her life to helping women recover from addiction. She was widely known in the community for her unwavering commitment to sobriety, her deep relationship with a Higher Power, and her endless well of love, humor, and faith.

Nan touched the lives of hundreds — if not thousands — of people seeking healing. She had a rare gift for making others feel truly heard. She was always available, always honest, and always ready with a joke to break the ice. Nan never met a stranger and formed meaningful connections wherever she went.

In 2012, she founded Stability in Sobriety (S.I.S.), a sober-living home for women that continues to change lives. When she wasn’t supporting others on their recovery journeys, Nan loved reading, spending time with her beloved dog Lucy, and surrounding herself with her chosen family.

Nan passed away at 5:48 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 — just before her cherished Goddess Circle spoke the Serenity Prayer. She is survived by her son Daniel, whom she loved more than anyone in the world; her daughter-in-law Arpi; her granddaughter Aubrey; her partner Butch; and the countless women whose lives she touched with her compassion, humor, and fierce belief in their worth. The family would also like to acknowledge the special care provided by Jessica Rhea, who lovingly supported Nan through the final months, weeks, and days of her life.

Her legacy lives on in every life made steadier by her presence. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Daniel to support the S.I.S. House.
