About Myron

Myron Eugene Drummond, 89, of Cass Lake, MN, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji, MN.

He was born on October 27, 1934, in Onigum, MN, the son of Thomas and Erma (Beaulieu) Drumbeater. He was raised in Bena, and later attended the Flandreau Indian School.

At the age of 16 he moved to Chicago. Using woodworking and upholstery skills he learned in school, he started a career and eventually became a master upholsterer. In the early 1970’s he moved to Minneapolis, MN. He worked for Erickson’s Upholstery for over 25 years, and at DJ Upholstery for 15 years. While living in the Cities, he enjoyed venturing up north every weekend in his Mustang to visit his Bena Boys.

From 1981 until 2005 he resided in Columbia Heights, MN, before retiring to Cass Lake, MN. His favorite places to eat were Poncho and Lefty’s, La Casita, and Mad, Mad Mexican. He enjoyed driving around the country in his custom van during vacation time. He also enjoyed pow-wows, watching the news, attending car shows, boat shows, and home and garden shows. He liked to attend NHRA Drag Races at Brainerd International Raceway, and Golden Gloves boxing matches always with his son riding along in the Mustang. Myron had one grandchild. She was his namesake Myra. He loved her dearly and adored every minute he spent with her.

He is survived by: Son, Gary (Jennifer) Drummond,

Granddaughter, Myra Drumbeater,

Special Friends, Corrie and Kameryn,

Numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Kenneth Drumbeater, Leonard Cartier, sisters Eldora “Jen” Schulz, Clarice Seelye, and Joyce Lyons.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Del Mathews, Frank Humphrey, Rocky Tibbetts, J.J. Tibbetts, Leon Demo, Craig Seelye, Ronald Ahlman, Jeffrey Anderson, and All the Original Bena Boyz.
