life story
Fitness loving mother of four beautiful children
There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love. – Washington Irving
About Michelle
Michelle Martinez-Arizala, 44, of St Paul, MN, died in Miami, Fl after a long struggle with mental health and addiction, on 10 Oct 2023.
Michelle was born in Santurce, P.R. in 1979 to Gloria Martinez-Arizala and Rafael Carrillo Ruiz. Michelle spent her early childhood in Atlanta, GA, prior to moving with her family to MN in 1989. She attended Roseville Area Schools; right after High School she moved to Miami, Fl where her maternal family resides. After a brief attempt at joining the US Army, Michelle decided it was not for her. Shortly after, the first or her four children was born. Michelle progressively struggled until the monsters in her life won. It was her children that kept her going and trying to get better.
Michelle will always be remembered for her witty humor, her generosity, and her love of working out at the gym, her happy place. We’ll always remember her voice and the silly way she said, “where’s my saucy Silas,” when looking for her youngest son. Michelle’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Michelle was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Zenaida Fernandez Melia and Alberto Martinez-Arizala. Survived by her children, Lisa (17), Kaylee (16), Angelo (11) and Silas (4), who will dearly miss their mother and keep her in their memories; mother, Gloria Martinez-Arizala and stepfather Richard Rodgerson; siblings, Nicole Rodgerson, Daniel Rodgerson and Emma Rodgerson; uncles Alberto Martinez-Arizala (Becky), Eduardo Martinez-Arizala and Alejandro Martinez-Arizala, plus her nine cousins and great-aunt Gladys Rocafort. We will all dearly miss Michelle and keep her in our memories.
