Obituary

Michael Peters

1966 – 2024

On Friday, February 16th, Michael passed away peacefully in the Yukon at the age of 57. He will be remembered and missed by his daughter Macy, and son Matthew; his sister Lisa; nieces Kayla and Alexa, as well as many other cousins, family members and friends. Michael is predeceased by his parents, Anita Peters and Neil Peters.

Michael was known as ‘Dad’ and ‘Uncle Mike’. He could always be counted on for fun times and lots of good laughs. He was the life of the party! He loved music, dancing and having a good time. He loved his Hillbilly lifestyle, driving his camper, with a bandana in his hair, a pair of shades and being barefoot. He knew how to lighten up any mood and have the best of times. He will always be remembered for being uniquely himself.

He worked in various camps throughout his career and recently had the opportunity to work in the Yukon and British Columbia. He loved it in the Yukon, always sending photos to his family of the beautiful views and all the wildlife he would see. He was an extremely hard worker; always working in camps or working out at the ‘farm’ during his free time. He loved his 'farm' and worked on renovations every chance he had. He was always so excited and proud to share the work he did.

Michael loved everything outdoors and shared his passion for nature and adventure with his family. He provided many amazing times and memories to his family and friends at the farm. He always made sure his children had the best time and experiences, from tobogganing, skating, bonfires, hiking, fishing, kayaking down the river in his backyard, water sports, and of course, having pet goats and chickens. He also loved to cook homemade food and share recipes with his daughter. His family's absolute favorite was getting together for his famous spaghetti, a recipe for which he had planned to teach to his children.

Michael loved his family. He was hardworking, adventurous, free-spirited, fun-loving, and creative. He will continue to bring smiles and laughter to everyone who knew him, as we look back on memories of him. He will be greatly missed.

All are welcome to share any memories or condolences for the family in the comments. A private celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date.
