life story

Michael John Johnston, lovingly known as Mikey and Boopa, age 34, of Roseville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026. He was born on April 14, 1992. Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Linda.

Michael was someone who brought love, laughter, and light wherever he went. His intelligence, quick wit, infectious laugh, generous heart, and willingness to help others made him someone people could always count on. He had a way of making people feel welcome, cared for, and loved—and he gave some of the best hugs around.

Michael loved music, food, laughter, travel, festivals, camping, cooking and spending time in nature. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and gamer. Most of all, he loved the people in his life. His family and friends meant the world to him, and the memories he made with them will be cherished forever.

Michael is survived by his father, Brian; sisters, Sarah and Kari; along with many loving family members and close friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

Though his time with us was far too short, Michael left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His smile, laughter, kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the countless memories shared by those who loved him.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held in October. Details will be shared with family and friends.
