A loving husband, father, and grandfather - War Eagle

Melvin Lee Cossey passed away peacefully at home in Gardendale on October 1st, 2022. He was a lifelong fan of the Auburn Tigers and a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was born the youngest of 12 children in Crittenden, Arkansas to George Lewis Cossey and Mary Michael Cossey.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary, and siblings Willidene Davis, Milford Cossey, James Cossey, Pauline Cobb, Shirley Faye Allensworth, Harvie Cossey, Jessie Cossey, L.D. Cossey, Hassell Cossey, and Peggie Sue Cossey.

Melvin leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Jenny Odom Cossey, his sons Chris Cossey (Tracy) of Kaufman, TX and Coleman Lewis Cossey (Starla) of Oneonta, AL, his three grandchildren - Emerie Cossey, Charles Lee Cossey, and Coleman Lewis Cossey, Jr ("CJ"), his brother George Cossey (Dean) of South Bend, IN, and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and one Aunt Levell White of Savannah, TN.

Memorial service will be announced by the family following a private scattering of Melvin's ashes.
