Our Loved One Melvin

Our loved one, Melvin L.C. Battle, Sr., departed this life on February 16, 2022 at 3:20 AM at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Melvin was born on September 30, 1953 in Capron, VA. Melvin enlisted in the U. S. Army on May 21, 1974 where he served in Korea, Germany and several other locations. He received his high school diploma while in service and attended some college and trade schools. Melvin retired from the military on June 18, 1990.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father and mother Henry Lee Battle, Sr. and Mary Alice Barnes-Battle and his brother, James Battle.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Jane Battle of Minneapolis, MN, his daughters, Stephanie Battle of Austin, Texas, and Tracie Battle of Pulaski, VA and son, Melvin L.C. Battle, Jr. of Shreveport, LA. He also leaves behind his brothers, Linwood Battle and Henry Lee Battle, Jr. of Franklin, VA, sisters, Minnie Long of Courtland, VA and Mary Lee Battle of Franklin, VA, two grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including Verdell Harris, Odell Johnson, and Willie Rogers.

The family would like to thank all of Melvin’s friends for their generosity and kindness at this time and for their assistance in his care.
