life story

The “Belle” of the Mendota VFW

Missy left this world suddenly of natural causes in late April of 2026. Will be forever loved and forever missed by her parents Rose and Daryl and her younger sister Natalie Hunter (Andy) as well as her nephews JD and Trey and niece Mya Melissa. She is also survived by loving aunts and uncles- Larry, and Jeff (Barb)Levercom; Kathy (Bruce) Lindeman, Ellie Swenson, Patty (Mike) Ludwig, Jan Swenson, and honorary aunt Colleen Woodley. Her cousins Chris, Shawn, Jenny, Kayleen, Tyler, Kelly, Kevin, Mark, Megan, Danielle, Dain, Kevyn and Josh and their spouses and children. Also survived by many, many friends and coworkers.

Melissa is welcomed into eternal rest by her grandparents Alice and Morley Levercom and Pat and Ray Swenson; aunts and uncles Jimmy, Mary, Theresa and Rick Swenson as well as Baby Ralph, Tyrone and Val Jean Levercom; cousins Matt Ludwig and Hayes Pien; and her beloved dog- Curley Joe Cocker.

Melissa was a member of the1998 class of Henry Sibley High School, a 2000 Rasmussen University grad and spent the last 26 years employed with the CBRE company. In her “free” time she sold pull tabs and meat raffle tickets at the Mendota VFW and the Yankee Tavern. She was a proud member of the “Axel’s Family” and would use vacation time from CBRE to work at LuLu’s Public House at the Minnesota State Fair each summer. She was dedicated and steadfast at whatever she did.

Melissa’s job in the pull tabs booth at the Mendota VFW allowed her to be surrounded by her friends….and there are many….Pam, Brian & Nancy, Jamie & Shelly, Tom & Nance, Taylor, Ernie, Kara, Ronda, Tammy, Ben, Patty & Jerry, Amy, Cassie, Amber, Dan-O, Tim & his ma, Scottie, Angie, Denise, Nick, Miles, Paul, Howie & Jahne, Michelle & Bob, Sandy & Jim, Becky &Tracy and Connie and Nikita and Ashley…just to name a few!

Melissa was an avid WILD hockey fan, a bocce ball pro and famous for her Jell-O shots! She was quiet but never afraid to speak her mind. Unapologetically herself. She always stayed true to her word.
