life story

"He loved being the handyman for family and friends"

Mel A. Hage was born August 17, 1947 and passed away April 4, 2023 at the age of 75. He was born in Mountain Lake MN to Sam and Margaret Hage, the 8th of 11 children. He was raised and educated in Trimont, MN. He served in the US Army in Ft. Greeley, AK from 1966-1968 and was a longtime member of the American Legion. On May 22, 1971 Mel married Dianne Nelson in Bismarck, ND. They were blessed with a family with the additions of Brittany and Tyler.

For most of his career Mel was in sales for commercial restaurant equipment. He retired from 3M as Regional Manager/Certified Water Specialist. He loved hunting, fishing and mostly being the handyman for family and friends. Crossing items off the “honey do” list was a priority. Teaching his grandchildren how to use tools made him happy. Mel was a member of Lord of Life Church over 40 years and was a communion server, usher and volunteer for many other programs.

Mel is survived by his wife Dianne; daughter Brittany (Dan), with grandchildren Emmett and Elise; son Tyler (Renee) Hage. Mel is also survived by sisters Darlene, Joan (Gary), Ruth (Doug), Nancy, Norma; brothers Kenneth (Mary) and Thomas (Ruth) Hage.
