About Mary
It is with great sadness that we announce that Mary Constance Barry of Lexington (and previously Arlington), Massachusetts, died on the 30th of July 2025. She was known by many names, “Mary”, “Miss Barry”, “Auntie Mimi”, “Bubba”, and most of all, “Mom”.
Mary graduated from Regis College and went on to earn her masters at Boston College. She taught English at Arlington High School for over three decades, where she continued finding new meaning in The Great Gatsby each year.
She loved and was loved by people from all across her life, from remaining close to schoolgirl friends, to keeping in touch with lifelong colleagues, and being a pillar of her neighborhood.
For her extended family she was the glue holding many generations together, especially her many nieces and nephews as they grew and sometimes moved across and out of the country. Her most cherished role was being a mother to her beloved sons. In all these facets of life, Mary could be relied upon to be a welcoming and consistent presence.
Mary loved beaches and watching the ocean, crisp fall days, the many cats she adopted and took in, cream in her coffee, anything chocolate, and reading new books.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, William Bernard Barry and Mary Dorothy Barry, brothers John, Donald, and Daniel Barry, and sisters-in-law Joan, June, and Edy.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel and Andrew DuBeau, daughter in-law Mellisa Massello DuBeau, sister Carol Kenealy, brother-in-law William Kenealy, brother William Barry, sister-in-law Judy Barry, sister-in-law Carol Barry, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial is being planned for September 2025 with more details to follow.
