About Mary Ann
Mary Ann Stellmach, 82, of Stillwater, MN passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025 at the Wealshire Memory Care Residence in Medina, MN. She was a loving partner to her husband, a loving mother to her children, a loving grandmother, and a loyal friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
Mary Ann was born on December 1, 1942 in Maple Lake, MN to John and Eleanor Fobbe. She lived life on the farm until graduating from high school with honors and going to the University of Minnesota in 1960. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. It was at the University where she met the love of her life, Bob Stellmach. They married on August 24, 1963. Mary Ann used the skills she developed in her Home Economics studies to raise a family of four children. Her skills in cooking and sewing helped the family thrive on a teacher’s salary. As the children grew, Mary Ann took a job as a Taxpayer Services Representative. She rose to a supervisor’s position and developed a thorough understanding of tax law, all in the name of helping others.
Mary Ann developed hobbies throughout her life. She loved to play tennis, knit, sew, cross county ski, and most of all, play cribbage. She and Bob played a few games nearly every day, and at the age of 81 she had the first 29 point hand of anyone in the extended family. She was a devoted Catholic all of her life and was an active member of the St. Michael’s parish in Stillwater, MN. She and Bob had a uniquely close relationship, and they shared their skills of partnership through the Marriage Encounter Program.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Bob Stellmach, her parents, John and Eleanor Fobbe, her brother, John Fobbe, and her sister, Janet Reeder. She is survived by her four children: Nancy (Bennett) Louwagie, Bob (Tammy) Stellmach, Greg (Renee Hanson) Stellmach, Jeff (Mary Ellen Alsobrook) Stellmach, her 7 grandchildren – Kyle (Olivia) Louwagie, Erin Louwagie, Troy (Elizabeth) Louwagie, Rob (Julianna) Stellmach, Megan Stellmach, Katie Stellmach, Kellie Stellmach - and her great-grandchild, James Louwagie.
