About Mary

I was born on Oct. 27, 1926, home delivery to my parents August and Lottie (Rauk) Marsh in Shevlin township, Clearwater County MN. I was born the 5th of 7 children. I was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. I Went to school first grade thru 8th at district #47 and Bagley High School, graduating in 1944.

During high school, I stayed with my Grandma Rauk and worked after school and on Saturdays for Carl and Alice Anderson Grocery, which was my grandparents old store building. High School highlights were band and friends, who I like to keep in contact with.

After graduation, I went to work at JC Penney’s, first in ladies wear, and then window trimming.

I was married on April 7th, 1946, to Ray Waggoner. We moved to Regent, North Dakota in 1951, and back home to Shevlin in 1959. Together we had 5 children, in order Sandra, Terry, Thomas, Tracy, and Todd.

In Regent, we lived and worked on an open pit coal mine and farmed. I helped the country doctor with home births. When we came back to Clearwater County, we purchased the “Old McDonald” farm belonging to Merle and Corrine McDonald in 1963. We started and managed a grade A dairy farm for many years. I sewed my husband’s shirts and clothing for my children. I had an appreciation for art and my grandchildren loved my paintings. I shared in the Stable Pottery, creating many pottery pieces. I loved to bake leaving at least 27 apple pies and 14 dozen donuts in the freezer. I loved nothing more than having my kids, family and friends stop by as I loved to entertain. I loved my family and friends. I was active in Women of Saddle Club, Homemakers, PTA, Women for Dairy, 4-H, Clearwater Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, and FmHA board member.

I am survived by my kids - Sandy (Don) Swenson of Shevlin MN; Terry (Roxane) Waggoner of Bagley MN; Tom (Patsy) Waggoner of Alexandria MN; Tracy (Carmen Shuck) Waggoner of Bagley, MN; and Todd (Lynette) Waggoner of Bagley, MN. My Brother Dick Marsh of Pengilly, MN; my sister -Molly Peterson Hugger of Maple Wood MN. I am blessed with 15 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter.
