Marvel R. Flateland, age 59, of Trail, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Marvel Richard Flateland was born on July 24, 1962 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Howard and Sylvia (Voeltz) Flateland. He was baptized and confirmed at Sand Valley Church in Trail and graduated from Gonvick-Trail High School in 1981.

Marvel was united in marriage to Virginia Nichols on April 1, 1995. He worked for Dairy Farms, the Rice Plant, and had currently been employed at Pine Ridge Residence in Bagley for the last 21 years.

Marvel’s laugh was one of a kind. He loved to talk to family and friends. He was always willing to stop what he was doing to help someone out. He loved the farm and his cattle.

Marvel will be missed dearly by his wife, Virginia; his mother, Sylvia Flateland of Trail; his brothers, Howard J. Flateland of Gulf Port, MS, Gordon Flateland, and Wesley (Lynn) Flateland of Clearbrook, MN; his sisters, Joyce Sather of Gonvick, MN, Judy (Gerald) Seyller of Trail, MN, Janet Flateland of Long Prairie, and Roxann (Roger) Coan of Goodridge, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Flateland; and his mother and father-in-law, Ida and Warren Nichols.

Visitation will be one hour prior. A visitation will also be held the evening prior on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be held at Bagley City Cemetery in Bagley, MN.
