Marlis Marie Tvedt

February 5, 1947 – February 26, 2025

Apple Valley, MN 55124, USA

Marlis Marie Tvedt, known affectionately by all as Marti, was a beacon of joy who brightened the lives of everyone she touched. Born in the heart of winter on February 5, 1947, in Glenwood, Minnesota, she brought warmth and laughter to the world for 78 years before peacefully passing away on February 26, 2025, in Apple Valley, Minnesota, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Marti was a loving wife to her devoted husband, Richard. She was the cherished mother of Todd (Sherry) Eastgate and Tanya (Pete) Peterson, who will forever remember her as the queen of luck and the world's best mom.

Her grandchildren, Jacob (Savanna) Eastgate, Katelyn Eastgate, Brittany (Anthony) Peterson, and Brianna (Adam) Peterson, knew her as the "cool grandma" with a race car who loved to play video poker.

Marti recently became a great-grandma to Easton and Emersyn "Emmy" and every time she saw them, her smile would light up the entire room.

Marti was the sister of Loretta (Thomas) Hodges and Warren (Sharon) Wilson who made every family gathering an event to remember. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Helen (Tonn) Wilson, and her sister Waneda Anderson, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms and a heavenly game of bingo.

After graduating high school in Fargo, North Dakota, Marti's career journey began as a dental assistant. She later transitioned to house cleaning. When her grandkids came along, she took on the role of "nanny extraordinaire," sharing her love and life lessons.

Before retiring in 2010, Marti was a beloved cashier at Byerly's, where it's said her checkout line was always the longest—not because she was slow, but because customers lined up for bright smile and infectious laughter.

Marti's interests were as colorful as her personality. She loved traveling with Richard, cooking up a storm (sometimes literally), and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She was a fierce competitor at video poker, a bingo queen, and had an uncanny ability to turn scratch-off tickets into gold.

Describing Marti is simple: she was loving, friendly, and funny. She had the kind of humor that could defuse any situation and the kind of heart that made everyone feel like family. Whether she was at the casino betting on a royal flush or at home hosting someone's birthday, her laughter was the jackpot everyone hoped for.

Marti leaves behind a legacy of love, a treasure trove of memories, and the unmistakable feeling that life is a little less bright without her. Marti's spirit and her ability to make every moment a bit more fun will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She lived, laughed, and loved like no other. May her memory be a blessing and a reminder to always play the hand you're dealt with a smile on your face.

A memorial service will take place at Apple Valley Villa in Apple Valley, Minnesota on March 29, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
