Mark Charles Schneider passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mark was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on November 5, 1967, to Marlys Pettis Anderson and Charles H. Schneider. The family moved to Rice Lake, Wisconsin in 1973 where he lived until he graduated high school in 1986. Mark continued his education at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He enjoyed success in the retail car and finance industries but the role he was most proud of was Dad. He was a man grounded in faith and led the family on a mission trip to Haiti in 2013

Mark enjoyed playing goalie on the high school hockey team all four years. Sports were his passion and he loved sharing that with his son and daughter. Whether it was taking Jack to a baseball game and keeping stat sheets or watching, cheering on, and volunteering for Ellie’s hockey and soccer teams, he cherished those moments.

Fall was his favorite time of year with all the major sports in full swing, fall baseball, hunting season, and his favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. He loved the outdoors, especially spending time up north hunting, fishing and tinkering in the garage and cabin. He loved cooking and hosting family gatherings, traveling and working around the yard and in the home he shared with his partner of five years.

Those closest to him will miss is his brief chuckle and sly smile, especially when he was surrounded by Laura, his children, and his friends. Whether he was sharing a moment of laughter or getting the better of a friend on the golf course or in a card game, Mark had a special way of making those moments memorable. These are the little things that will be remembered and cherished for years to come.

Mark’s warmth, kindness, empathy, loyalty, and genuine love for others drew him to many wonderful groups of friends, creating lasting friendships that spanned decades. Mark will be deeply missed by his family and legions of friends who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

He is survived by his father, Chuck (Maureen) Schneider; his partner, Laura Hagen; his children, Jack Schneider, Ellie (Aly) Cole and Mark’s bonus daughter, Ella Hagen; and his sisters, Lisa Strube (partner Brian Eick) and Carla (Mark) Thompson. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlys Pettis Anderson.
