About Mark

Mark Kevin Kempton was born on March 15th, 1957 in Johnson City, New York to Wendell and Karolyn (Koerber) Kempton. He went on to marry Andrea McGovern almost 41 years ago on April 16th, 1983. Mark graduated from Cedarville University in 1987 and then graduated with his masters from United States Sports Academy in 1989. Mark spent many years taking on his true passion as a profession, coaching Division II basketball teams across the country. He also took on the role as coach-dad to his four children throughout their childhood years. One of his favorite roles was "Pops" to Quinn, Cora, Crosby, Kirah, and Isla. He went home with the Lord on March 17th, 2024, survived by his wife Andrea Kempton, children Eric (Erin), Michael, Karolyn (Travis), Kevin, and his siblings Stan Kempton (Cynthia) and Wendy Flannery (Mark) along with many nieces and nephews and beloved friends and extended family. We will miss his presence but rejoice in his homecoming.

In the words of Jesus in John 11:25-26: "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die."
