Marie Renee McCarthy, 79, of Kelliher, MN died on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Cornerstone Residence in Kelliher, MN.

Marie was born on December 31, 1942 in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of Ivan and Gladys (Boness) Rogers. She graduated from Kelliher High School in 1960 and later received an associate’s degree in accounting.

She married Rollin Letcher in September of 1962 and together they had 3 children, Stacey, Stuart and Stephanie. After Rollin’s death she married Willard Giese in 1981and together they had one child, Brittani, they later divorced. She married Richard McCarthy in October of 1995.

In the early 1990’s she started and owned her own business doing painting, wallpapering and carpet cleaning which she did for almost 20 years. She was a proud member of the Beltrami County Mounted Posse for 20 years. Marie had a passion for horses; she bred, raised and rode them. She enjoyed playing cards, deer hunting, wildlife and camping/traveling, but most of all, she loved having fun. She raised a garden and birds, including guineas, turkeys and chickens.

Marie enjoyed snowmobiling and was a bit of a daredevil amongst her snowmobiling friends. She also had a passion for her pets, especially her dogs and cats. Marie especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them on many adventures.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Richard McCarthy of Kelliher, MN; 4 children, Stacey (Kelly) Indergard of Sidney, MT, Stuart (Sigrid) Letcher of Hatton, ND, Stephanie (Scott Geerdes) Rockensock of Blackduck and Brittani (Eric Arndt) Waldorf of Hutchinson, MN; step-children, R. J. (Annie) McCarthy of Park Rapids, MN and Melanie (Bobbe) Garvick of Elmore, MN; 6 grandchildren, Seth Indergard, Thea Letcher, Riley Rockensock, Kaelan Rockensock, Beckett Geerdes and Gustav Arndt; step-grandchildren, Mason McCarthy, Makalia Garvick and Harley Garvick; sister, Gloria Henriksen of Glyndon, MN; brother-in-law, Fred Hammer of Baxter, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rollin Letcher; sister, Myrna Hammer; grandson, Kelby Indergard; and brother-in-law, Dick Henriksen.

Rev. Anne Meredith will be officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
