About Margie
Margie Bridgman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on November 30, 2023.
She was born on September 13, 1944 in Maddock, ND to Olaf and Beatrice (Williams) Antonson. Her freshman year she moved with her family to LaPorte, MN. Her dad found a beautiful farm with many Norways as far as the eye could see on a hillside, which reminded him of his home in Norway.
She was Homecoming Queen, played the drums, cheerleader and school plays. After graduation in 1962 she went to work for Wringer in Park Rapids, MN. That fall she started college in Bemidji, MN. She ended up in a horrible car accident.
At 19, she met the love of her life, Larry Bridgman, and they married January 31, 1964. They moved between MN and ND. They moved back to MN in 1975. In 1982, they moved to Lake George, MN and in 1994 they became business owners for 20 years. They retired and stayed in the area.
Margie had a heart of gold, was a giver that expected nothing in return. She had a witty sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling in the semi with her husband all over the United States and Canada.
She was adventurous and loved to travel and meet new people. She traveled all over including going to Norway to see where her family roots began. At the age of 65 she decided a big family vacation in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee was needed. Zip-lining on the largest 9-run zip-line course in the United States, she was always full of surprises, adventures, and lived life to the fullest. Family was where her heart was. They were her world. As she was theirs. She gave freely without expecting anything in return. She always saw the good in a person, accepted people with open arms.
She is survived by her loving Husband; her 3 children, Darren (Leny) Bridgman of Lake George, MN, Angela Fieldsend of Lake George, MN, Lori (Scott) Holk of Rochester, MN; stepdaughter, Leisha Schweitzer of Park Rapids, MN; and her Chosen daughter, Carla Simonson of Lake George, MN; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one due in February.
She is preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings Alvin, Ove, Larry; her daughter Christy; grandsons, Branden and Casey Fieldsend.
