Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

Margaret Wood passed away on November 14, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born on February 25, 1947, and grew up in Illinois, where she attended Catholic school and later entered the convent as a novitiate. Although she eventually chose a different path, that early experience shaped her faith and her lifelong sense of spirituality.

Margaret went on to be one of the few women at the time studying science in college. It was there that she met her future husband, Bill, who was a teaching assistant in her physics class. They married, moved to Minnesota, and raised three children: Robert, Brian, and Mary.

Between raising her children, including a year homeschooling them as one of the pioneering homeschoolers in the state, Margaret worked in a lab as a chemist and taught high school physics.

Margaret was a voracious reader, filling bookshelves at a prodigious pace. She loved nature, from gardens at every home she lived in to trips to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. In her later years she was beloved by her grandchildren, who were precious to her. She remained deeply spiritual, integrating elements of Buddhism into the faith she had carried throughout her life.

Margaret is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Bill; her children, Robert, Brian and his wife Amanda, and Mary; and her grandchildren, Zinnia and Aurora.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
