About Margaret
Margaret Rasmussen, 81, of Sedona, Arizona, passed away on April 14. She was born Margaret Louise Peterson in Duluth, Minnesota on July 30, 1939.
Margaret met Roy Rasmussen when both were teaching and coaching at I.S.D. 166. The two fell in love and were married for 51 years.
When her students learned that their beloved teacher "Miss Pete" was going to marry Mr. Rasmussen they hosted a wedding shower in the home economics classroom. They continued to be inspired by Margaret, now "Mrs. R."
Margaret was a considerate, caring, and compassionate person. Roy said, “She was a teacher for 34 years and a great wife for 51 years.” She influenced many lives and will be truly missed.
During their years together, Margaret and Roy enjoyed traveling internationally. Margaret loved to canoe, camp, ski, and most of all read. She also collected British Royalty memorabilia and Snoopies.
Margaret is survived by her husband Roy, her brother David Peterson of Minneapolis, and Ingie Osthus, their high school exchange student daughter from Verdal, Norway, who still calls weekly.
