Margaret Catherine Flanagan
November 8, 1956 – August 15, 2025
St Paul, MN, USA
Rest in peace, dear Peg.
Margaret (“Peg”) Flanagan passed away surrounded by loved ones at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul on August 15, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 8, 1956 in Freeport, Illinois, Peg graduated from Macalester College (B.A. English) in 1978. For 40 years she served Minnesota’s non-profit community, developing boards and raising millions of dollars for numerous prestigious organizations.
Peg herself was a dedicated patron of the arts. She loyally attended events by the cultural institutions she so passionately helped thrive, and often traveled with friends to New York and Europe to enjoy even more theater, music, and visual art. Peg had an abiding love of literature. She will be remembered for her recitations of Irish poetry, impeccable attire, elegantly written thank-you notes, and cinematic storytelling around the hearth in her cherished “cottage.”
Peg was preceded in death by parents Natalie Catherine (Byrne) and Bernard William ("Bill") Flanagan, sister Maureen (J.T. Raymond), and cats Mia, Zeppy, and Mrs. Tiger. She is survived by siblings Mary Pat and Michael, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends (whom she considered family), and Betty, her beloved feline companion.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Our Lady of Peace Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting Our Lady of Peace Hospice or Celtic Junction.
