Lyle Loyd Thompson

Lyle Loyd Thompson, age 88, of Elk River, MN passed into the arms of Jesus of May 10, 2023.

He was born on May 24th, 1934 to Frank and Pearl Thompson in Wessington Springs, SD. The family moved to Mora, MN when Lyle was 7 years old. Lyle graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1952 and was lucky enough to celebrate his 70th class reunion with several of his fellow graduates in 2022. He often shared many fond memories of life on the farm, including Pearl’s flower gardens and hunting with his father and siblings. He proudly served in the marines during the Korean War.

Lyle had a variety of careers throughout his life, but he was mostly known in recent years as a gifted woodworker. His family will treasure the custom pieces that he created for them over the years.

Lyle married Phyllis Weisenbeck in 1965. Together, they had 9 children.

Lyle was proceeded in death by his parents, 3 siblings; Frank Jr, Glen and Vern, and his baby girl, Shelly Lynn.

He is survived and will be missed by his 8 children; Lisa Thompson, Sheldon Thompson, Wenda Thompson (James Hanson), Jeremy Thompson, Scott (Jenny) Thompson, Kelly Thompson (Donny Levang), Jeffery Thompson (Sara Post) and David Thompson, several grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many extended family and friends.

Lyle will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora, MN
