Louis Green Jr., 67, was born on November 18, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the beloved son of Verdie Green and Louis Green. Louis was affectionately known as “June,” a name lovingly used by his family and those who knew him from childhood. Among many of his adult friends, he was also known as “Doc,” a nickname shared with humor and affection.
In his youth, Louis found joy in acrobatics, flipping and tumbling with his younger brothers. As he grew, his love for music blossomed into a true gift. He became a talented drummer, playing in church and on special occasions, and even sharing professional opportunities alongside his sister.
Louis was a man of many talents, passions, and a generous spirit. In his professional life, he served in Supervisor and Manager roles, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and willingness to help others. Outside of work, he was a wonderful cook who found joy in preparing meals, using food as a way to bring people together.
He took great pride in maintaining a clean and orderly home. It was always spotless—a reflection of his love for peace, comfort, and calm. The sound of smooth jazz often filled the air, creating a warm and soothing atmosphere. His home radiated a sense of peace, you could feel the peace and even the plants he tended seemed to flourish under his genuine care.
Louis had a joyful spirit and a natural sense of humor. He loved joking and laughing, and time spent with him was filled with warmth—laughter was always guaranteed. He enjoyed talking with others, watching basketball, and caring for others, which reflected his gentle and nurturing nature. He deeply cherished his family and treasured time spent visiting loved ones, near and far.
Family was the heart of Louis’s life and his greatest joy. He married the love of his life, Eddrena, and together they built a strong foundation rooted in love, devotion, and raising their children with care and intention. The family later relocated to Minneapolis alongside his brother Deatra’s family. When Eddrena passed away due to illness, Louis experienced a profound and lasting loss. Yet her love remained with him, carried in his heart each day. In time, he found companionship and love with Tamala, and together they continued to nurture and grow their family. Even after parting, they remained connected through mutual respect and shared love for their family.
Louis’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. He loved the Lord deeply and often encouraged others to stay strong and rooted in their faith. Despite battling health challenges for several years, Louis carried himself with dignity and quiet strength. He cherished the days when he felt well enough to do what he loved—especially cooking and caring for those around him. His resilience and spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Verdie Green and Louis Green Sr.; his first wife, Eddrena; and his siblings, Glenda, Thomas, Deatra, and Millard.
