Lorna May Johnson, 88, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away surrounded and cared for by her children on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at her home in Bagley, Minnesota.

Lorna was born in Minerva Township, Minnesota on May 17, 1935 to Francis and Selma “Peggy” (Rosenquist) Lewis. She was baptized at home at the kitchen table with all of her siblings and her father. She attended Bagley Schools until 7th grade and for 8th grade went to Clearbrook High School. She was confirmed in 1951 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bagley, MN.

Lorna married Martin Johnson at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bagley, MN on August 8, 1953. They moved to Minneapolis and then to Circle Pines, MN, where she worked as an assembly worker for Electric Machinery for 15 years. In 1974, Lorna and Martin moved back to Bagley where she began working as a Home Health Aide for Clearwater County until 1981.

Lorna was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Circle Pines, MN, Redeemer Lutheran Church, and then became a member of Grace Free Lutheran Church. She loved embroidery, sewing, and playing cards. She loved to travel and camp with the family around the U.S. She followed Martin and her brother racing cars in the area.

Lorna is survived by her children, Sharon Mistelske, Gerald (Cindy) Johnson, Gail (Paul) Friborg, and Vernon (Debra) Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; her sister, Donna Ehlers; and numerous in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Ruben Johnson; parents, Francis and Selma “Peggy” Lewis; her siblings, Chester Lewis, Donald Lewis, Leonard Lewis, and Charlene Lundin; her child, Ruben Lee Johnson; her grandchild, Angie Lynn Johnson; and her son-in-law, Thomas Mistelske.

Grace Free Lutheran Church 642 Main Ave N, Bagley, MN 56621, USA

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. An evening of visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
