Loretta Blanche Leshovsky passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on January 11, 2024 at Crystal Brook Senior Living Community, Park Rapids, MN.

Loretta Cowden was born January 23, 1936 to parents Robert Scott Cowden and Blanche Irene Halvorson in Fargo, ND. She grew up in Dilworth, MN where she attended school. After graduating high school she worked at various businesses doing book work, held a job at Dakota Clinic in x-ray and attended NDSU and Ventura College where she took classes in nursing.

On June 7, 1958 she was united in marriage to Arnold Deforest Leshovsky of Milnor, ND at the Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN. Their wedding was officiated by Arnold’s uncle, Rev. Gustav Halmrast. After a short stay in Detroit Lakes, MN, Arnold’s work brought them to Los Angeles, CA. Then in 1964, Loretta and her husband Arnold moved to Ventura, CA where they resided for 33 years. After Arnold retired as Project Manager from Ventura County, they moved to Nevis, MN.

Loretta was a housewife, good mother to her children and loved to work outside with her flowers and rose garden. She was always busy keeping the weeds out of her flowered hillside. She also volunteered as a Candy Striper at a local hospital, and in later years worked as a CNA in home health care.

Loretta enjoyed spending time with her siblings, and other relatives, and especially her younger sister Judy Koepplin, whom she was very close to. Most of all she loved spending time with all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Ladies, crafting, canning and spending time in the summer at Solinger’s Resort fishing on Lake Lida, MN and spending time with Arnold’s relatives.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Blanche Cowden; brother, Gary Cowden; 3-year-old son, Bryan Jay Leshovsky; and two infant children, Miles and Lorrene.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Arnold Leshovsky of Park Rapids, MN; son, Scott (Shelly) Leshovsky of Park Rapids, MN; daughter, Teresa Leshovsky of Nevis, MN; grandchildren, Andrew (Louis) Leshovsky of St. Paul, MN, Ashley (Rusty) Huschka of West Fargo, ND, Mandy (Robert III “Buddy”) Buck of Akeley, MN, Zachary Norberg of Nevis, MN, Noah Olson of Nevis, MN, Bridget Leshovsky of Nevis, MN, Bailey Jo Buck of Akeley, MN, Wylie Buck of Akeley, MN, Victoria Huschka of West Fargo,ND, Lauren Huschka of West Fargo, ND, Elliana Wolfe of Park Rapids, MN, Lainey Norberg of Park Rapids, MN; brother Dale (Avis) Cowden of Dilworth, MN; and Judy (Wayne) Koepplin of Sioux Falls, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead, MN in the spring of 2024.
