life story

A Gentle Giant

Beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Great Uncle, Cousin and Friend

Doug Lee

Lloyd D. Lee was born on 11/23/1956 to Hilda (Goldberg) and Richard G. Lee (U.S. Army) in Fort Polk, LA. At a very young age Doug was diagnosed with learning disabilities and struggled with many tasks. As he grew older Doug became known as a gentle giant at 6’9”. He also became self sufficient later in life and lived on his own after his parents passed away. Doug graduated from the Roosevelt High School Special Ed Program in San Antonio, TX in 1975. Doug worked every day since he was 14 beginning with a paper route until his unexpected death at age 65 on 12/27/2021. As a Special Olympian, in his youth, he received a Silver medal for the high jump. An avid sports fan, Doug enjoyed Wrestling, Football, Basketball and Baseball, and also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. He was fond of every new technological gadget and had an extensive tool collection. Taking after his father, Doug became a tournament winning bowler. He loved his sister, niece and nephews, and his great niece and nephew. Quite the joker he was very well liked by everyone at his apartment community. He enjoyed his jobs at AMF, Toys R Us and Walmart and kept in contact with many co workers over the years. He was a friend to all and received many accolades for outstanding customer service. Doug loved Sunday Suppers and Holidays at his sister’s house and enjoyed pet sitting. Doug remained very childlike his entire life. He is preceded in death by his parents. Doug is survived by his sister Karen Lee of Houston, TX; nephews Austin Overbeck of Oxford, MS; Tyler Overbeck of Houston, TX; and niece Morgan Overbeck of Spring, TX; and great niece and great nephew Maddison and Benson Kyser of Houston, TX, along with many cousins, extended family and friends. Rest In Peace.
