Leroy Herman, 87, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Essentia Health in Fosston, Minnesota. He went home to be with his Lord and daughters (Mardy and Hillary).

Leroy Herman was born January 11th, 1936. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He met the love of his life (Arlys) at a dance in Clearbrook, MN and they shared 68 wonderful years together. They had 4 children: Mardy Miska (Joel), James Herman (Stacy), Stacey Stenerson (Steve), and Hillary Herman. Leroy was blessed with 8 grandchildren - Ben Miska(Kari), Rachel Miska, Ashley Nelson(Nathaniel), Kristan Fleck (David), Kyle Herman (Amy), Mataya, Kade, and Ari Stenerson. 12 great grandchildren Kia Nelson, Conner Nelson Kylee Fleck, Lexi Fleck, Leah Miska, Allison Miska, and Jorie, Ezra,Jonas, Mercer, Neva, and Rosco Miska.

Leroy had many jobs during his life, from working in the woods cutting wood, to being on the ships on Lake Superior, to running a farm, and being employed at Enbridge for 28 years. Leroy enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved playing cards, winning, his wife’s cooking, and being with his family.

He put up an amazing garden and took pride in how his lawn looked. He enjoyed cutting firewood and being on the farm. Leroy was influential in many peoples lives. He was a devoted husband, loving father, an amazing grandfather, and a cherished friend. He played a huge role in shaping his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Leroy left behind a legacy, he lived life to the fullest until the very end. And although we weren’t ready, he was. We have so many stories and memories that we will cherish always. Thank you for teaching us what it looks like to live life fully, to love proudly, and to keep walking even through the good and bad of life.

He’s survived by wife Arlys, brother Duane (Swede), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents - Paul & Rachel Herman, daughters - Mardy & Hillary, sister Pauline, and 2 brothers Nels and Ted.
