Dad, Friend, Farmer — Loved by so many
About LeRoy
LeRoy made friends everywhere he went, and made everyone feel heard and important, from friends he’d known his whole life to folks he’d known only a few hours.
The son of Henry and Helen Bormet, LeRoy grew up with his younger siblings Carol & Dennis in Tinley Park IL, riding his horse to and from his family farm, the farm where he worked, and his high school. He served in the Army, and upon returning he married Judy (Lily) and partnered with his childhood friend to start B & B Farm in Monee, training, breeding and boarding Thoroughbreds. While building and running farm, he and Judy had three children: Julee (Robert), Todd, and Lori (Maurice). He worked tirelessly to keep the farm thriving and successful, and make sure his children understood what it means to work with care for what you love.
Leroy brought joy and friendship wherever he went, and when, in his late 80s, his body forced him to work less, he spent more time keeping up with friends and family by phone — it was impossible to spend time with him without him getting a bunch of calls, even in his final days on earth. He loved to connect with his friends and his children, and loved hearing from them and seeing them.
LeRoy was born on Easter Sunday and passed into Jesus’ arms on Good Friday. He is survived by his family and friends who will remember him with love until we meet again. If there’s hay baling and horse racing in Heaven, LeRoy’s on the tractor and in the winner’s circle. Love ya, Dad. ❤️ See you soon, hey.
