Remembering Larry ~

Larry Robert Brown, 73, of Anoka, Stacy and recently of St. Michael, MN, died peacefully in his sleep and was called home to Jesus on April 29, 2021. After a long hospital stay he died from complications of a series of health conditions.

Everyone is invited to join us in an informal celebration and fellowship of Larry’s life on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 2:00 -5:00 PM at his home at 418 3rd St. NW, St. Michael, MN 55376.

Larry was born November 11, 1947 in Mora, MN and graduated from St. Francis High School. He married Lee Ann Joy (Schrier) Brown and they were blessed with two sons – Erik and Kris. He was a fun-loving dad who was very proud of his sons and enjoyed taking them camping, shooting, fishing, hunting, playing games and just hanging out.

Larry’s legacy is that he should be remembered for being a generous man – with his time, his love, and his material possessions. He’d often ask what happened to a certain object, only to be reminded that he gave it away to someone. Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing cards, and all sorts of lawn and board games. In his younger years, he was a “motor head”; worked on his own vehicles and liked the muscle cars. In his twilight years he developed an extensive collection of models of cars, motorcyles and trucks.

Larry had a passion for cooking and utilized his skills in the food industry as well as enjoying cooking and entertaining at home. Later in his work years, Larry was the proud owner of B & B Sporting Goods in Forest Lake and continued to work in the sporting goods industry after retirement, as he just enjoyed hanging out with fisherman.

Larry loved all things outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, snowmobiling, dirt bikes, motorcyles and trikes, and 4 wheeling. Larry was an avid fisherman and hunter, but his enthusiasm was spending time with his children and grandchildren sharing his knowledge of his passions. Being around children always delighted him and brought joy to his heart. Larry loved living at his lake home in Stacy, watching the birds and wildlife, driving the pontoon, playing in the pool, spending time on the patio and spoiling his dogs – Rufus and Blaze. Family and friends will fondly remember the spectacular fireworks displays he treated them to.

Larry had a great sense of humor that he managed to hold on to despite his many years of ill health and chronic pain. He developed good relationships with his in-home health providers and made it his mission to make them laugh. Even at the end of life, he kept the nurses laughing and many medical staff dropped by his room to see him that were not his assigned staff at the hospital. Larry’s deep religious beliefs comforted him through his health issues and diminished life activities, and gave him the strength to endure.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Lee Ann Joy (Schrier)Brown. Son, Erik (Kerrie) Brown of St. Michael, 2 grandsons Travis Jacobsen (Leah) & Seth Brown, & 2 great grandchildren. Brother, Jim (Linda) Brown, of Texas, Sister-in Law Judy (Dick) Brown & many other loving family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his son Kristen Curtis Brown, parents Richard Elmer & Mary Isabel (Bennett) Brown, siblings, Richard Arland Brown, Sandra Snelling & Laura Mae Mattfeld. Larry will be dearly missed and will hold a special place in our hearts forever.
