Larry William Quinnell - “Papa”

Born April 13, 1946 in Northfield, MN. Went home to meet Jesus on June 15, 2022 at home in Belle Plaine, MN, surrounded by his family.

Survived by his wife Debbie of 47 years, son Todd (Pam) Quinnell, daughter Jennifer (Jamie) Meyers, daughter Tasha (Tony) Herrgott, daughter Angie (Matt) Braun, daughter Mandi (Johnny) Dvorak, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and hundreds of other family and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, William and Vera Quinnell, sister Sedona (John) Miller, brother Milo Quinnell, many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

Larry was born and raised on a farm in Northfield, MN. He was the youngest of 3 children. As a young man, he found the love for vehicles and the need for speed. He became friendly with the local policemen in town; though his actions may have been wreckless at times, his charming personality kept him out of trouble with the cops.

Larry enjoyed being behind the wheel of any motor - from riding his Harley, driving his classic cars, working on the yard in the Bobcat, driving his semi truck, leading the pack in the Pace Car at Elko Speedway, and even piloting his own hot air balloon.

He was so easy to love and talk to. Larry was a people person - he loved to spend his time hanging out with his family and friends. Everywhere we went, Larry would run into someone he knew (even being in states away from home) or would make a new friend by chatting it up with a complete stranger.

After graduating high school, he continued on to barber school. It was there at the barber shop that he noticed the love of his life working across the hall at the hair salon. A few years later they married in December of 1975. They raised 5 beautiful children together and settled into their forever home on 10 acres in Belle Plaine, MN.

Larry was extremely motivated and driven. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” kind of man; He owned and operated several of his own businesses, worked in construction, and drove semi trucks until he retired in 2020.

Larry had a larger than life personality but it could never supersede his big heart. He was always the first person to offer to help when someone needed a helping hand. He put his family first and foremost and never left his feelings unsaid - he made sure his family knew just how much he loved them! He was just a big teddy bear that gave the best bear hugs!

life story

Finally Home

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youth grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But, those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength! They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” -Isaiah 40:29-31
