Our Big Hearted Father & Friend
“My heart will go on.”
One of many favorite songs of Larry’s—he had a soft spot for the powerful voice of Celine Dion. And now, those words hold even more meaning.
Though Larry is no longer with us, his heart lives on in the memories we carry, the stories we tell, and the love he poured into our lives. His laugh, his wisdom, his way of making you feel heard—they’re all still here, echoing in the quiet and carried with us always.
His heart will go on—through us.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Micheal Guertin, who left us peacefully on March 7, 2025, at the age of 75. He was surrounded by love in his final moments, leaving behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever.
Born on May 10, 1949, Larry lived a life filled with deep connections, humor, and a passion for the things that brought him joy. He had a profound appreciation for his friends and family, the game of golf, and working with his hands—whether building, fixing, or restoring. In his later years, he found comfort in a good television series, action movies, and the simple pleasure of great conversation. His loyalty, kindness, and ability to connect with others left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him.
Larry proudly served his country as a veteran of the Army, an experience that shaped his resilience and unwavering sense of duty. After his service, he dedicated much of his career to the United States Postal Service, where his strong work ethic and easygoing nature made him both respected and well-loved. Beyond his profession, he was a man of many talents and interests—an avid golfer, a skilled handyman, and a creative thinker always dreaming up his next big project. Whether he was remodeling a home, restoring a car, or simply sharing a laugh, he had a way of bringing warmth and joy to those around him.
Above all, Larry cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved partner of 18 years, Elaine Turgeon (her children and grandchildren); his daughter, Sherry Rice (Dale); his son, Courtney Guertin (Faina); and his daughter, Kari Jensen (Aaron). He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two. He is also survived by his siblings, David Guertin (Marcie) and Nancy and niece and nephews. His big heart, sharp wit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but his wisdom and countless conversations will continue to live on through those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Larry’s legacy is one of resilience, love, and the ability to find joy in life's simple moments. While his absence leaves an unfillable space, his spirit will live on in the stories we share, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely.
A memorial service will be held on May 17th at Larry’s home in Bellevue Nebraska and May 24th at The Green Mill Restaurant in St. Paul, Minnesota from 12-3pm to honor and celebrate Larry’s life.
