Blue Skies and Tailwinds

Larry J. Walton, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, passed away on November 8, 2023.

At the age of 18, Larry joined the Navy. He traveled the world on the USS Essex. Larry loved to fly and obtained his pilot license at an early age. As a civil engineer, Larry worked on infrastructure projects all over the state of Minnesota and the world. From a power plant in Puerto Rico, to a ski resort in northern Minnesota. Larry also spent time in Alaska flying fuel and cargo to many interior gold mines and teaching at Wyatt’s Air Service. Larry and Denise loved to travel, one of their favorite destinations was Cozumel, Mexico. After retirement Larry and Denise built a house on Pelican Lake in Northern Minnesota, where they enjoyed the outdoors and many visits from family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife Denise L. Roach-Walton, parents Marion and Constance Walton, brother Joe (Delores) and brother-in-law James Nelson.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister Marilyn Nelson, daughter Sherry Gilbert, Stepchildren Kate (Steven) Peer, Mark (Katie) Roach, Cindy (Rick) Long, Lisa (Bill) Gossman, Jenifer (Chris) Kovacs, Michelle (Gary) Schimek-Johnson, 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.

Interment for Larry and Denise will be May 22 at 1:00, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
