About Larry

Larry John Oelschlager, 70 years old, of Akeley, MN, passed away on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center of Bemidji, MN.

Larry was a member of the Laborers Local 563 for 48 years. These last few years Larry enjoyed his time hunting with his sons and grandchildren, and he was always up for happy hour with family and friends.

Larry was born in Park Rapids, MN to Leonard and Harriet Oelschlager (VanDyk) on Oct. 3rd, 1951. He went to Akeley school. He married Marcia Eiklenborg on July 5th, 1970 in Nevis, MN. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Oelschlager and Leonard’s partner in life, Paulette Smith.

Larry is survived by his wife, Marcia, his sons Randy (Andrea) Oelschlager, Ryan (Christine) Oelschlager, daughter, Shannon (Tim) Avenson, sister, Sharon (Robert) Lukken, Grandchildren, Hunter & Sydney Oelschlager (Randy), Kali, Gavin, MaKenna Oelschlager (Ryan), Isaak, Nolan & Dillen Julia Avenson (Shannon).

The Oelschlager family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Sanford Center of Bemidji for their care and compassion in Larry’s last days.
