About Kyle

Kyle Cermak was born on January 21, 1972, in Torrence California, to Kathleen Yuhaus and Peter Cermak. They moved to Minnesota in 1977.

In October 1992, Kyle survived a tragic motorcycle accident which paralyzed him and he became a wheelchair user. Throughout many surgeries and months of rehabilitation, Kyle’s mother always told him to “be the best you can be”, and he did just that. Kyle never let his accident or disability define him. His thrill seeking, humorous, and determined spirit always shined through. 20 years after his accident, he bought an accessible van and was able to drive again! He also added a loving companion, Dexter, to his family—they were inseparable.

Kyle enjoyed summer barbecues with his family, walking his beloved dog, Dexter, and cooking.

Kyle passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at his home in St. Paul, Minnesota. Kyle will be remembered for his strength and courage. He is missed beyond belief.

He is survived by his mother Kathleen Yuhaus, brother Bodi Cermak, sister Tonia Mertz, niece Tasha Weisberg, and niece Taylor Fischer. He is preceded in death by his father, Peter Cermak.
