Kurt Swartz

On November 16, Kurt Swartz, age 61, passed away at home in Eagan, Minnesota, after a battle with a rare form of cancer.

He was so grateful to be with his loving family: his wife Mona, daughter Audrey, mother Priscilla, brothers Karl and Kraig, and aunt Judy.

Kurt was born on November 5, 1960, and moved from Chicago to St. Paul with his family in 1966, when his late father Mike transferred to a new position with Container Corporation of America.

In St. Paul, Kurt left his own special and singular "Eagle Scout" mark on Highland Park Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools. A graduate of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, Kurt was, as his co-workers, family and friends can testify, a shrewd businessman and negotiator.

His irreverent sense of humor made him a delightful storyteller as well. A lover of good wine and food, and a generous host to his family, neighbors and friends, he presided over a myriad of brunches (his favorite meal) , dinners and pool parties. His interest in wine also inspired travel with Mona to Napa Valley (where they were engaged), and further afield to Bordeaux and Tuscany. He loved golf, hiking, fishing, playing football and softball. Going to Gopher games with his buddies was the highlight of the football season.

He looked forward to annual traditions including the Christmas tree hunt ( wearing the perfect gloves ) with his in-laws Gene and Michelle, and family vacations to Lake Namakagon and Nisswa.

His beloved dog, Lulu was at his side to the very end. She so appreciated the long walks, sips of beer and spending time on the dock with him.

Kurt always had a smile on his face and loved to laugh. He proudly told "Dad" jokes, and was the very best Dad in the world to his daughter, Audrey.
