Krista's Story

Krista passed away unexpectedly of medical causes on Sunday, May 15th, 2022. She will be greatly missed by her beloved family including her three daughters Megan, Marissa, and Mady. Also, she will be missed dearly by her fiancé Aaron Weber (Krista was his everything) and his daughter Catie. Her memories will be cherished by her loving mother and father, Marilu LaVoie and Kevin Gravink; her grandma, Irma Johnson; her brother and his wife, Michael & Leah Gravink; nephews, Logan and Collin Gravink; aunts and uncles, Linda & Ken Hill, Dennis LaVoie, JoAnn Gravink, Lori Gravink, Paul & Cindy Gravink; special friend of the family, Roger Valentine and many cousins and close friends. Krista was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Gravink, and grandparents, Mary & Fred LaVoie and John Johnson.

Krista graduated from Tartan High School in 1998. She continued her education over the years and was completing a degree in addiction counseling at the time of her death. Krista played softball all throughout school and excelled in public speaking.

Krista was in recovery for almost two years and took her recovery very seriously. She was always available to help anyone who reached out their hand. She was a huge pillar in the recovery community and helped men and especially women seek help from addiction. She worked diligently and was loved and respected by her residents at the Hart House in Saint Paul MN as a Women's Advocate.

Krista always dreamed of living in Florida. She loved the beach, the sand, and the ocean. When she traveled, her destination always led her to the ocean. Krista also loved cats since she was little and became “A Crazy Cat Lady.” Max and Rex were by far her favorites but she loved every cat she ever met.

Krista was a devoted mom, daughter, sister and amazing friend. She was wholeheartedly devoted to her family, her job, and her friends. We were all so lucky to have such an amazing woman in our lives! She will be missed beyond measure by many. Krista was the type of person that once you met her you couldn’t help but love her!

A celebration of life will take place at her home on Saturday, May 28th at Noon. Purple is the color of the day. Please pass this post.
