Kenneth Frank Hanson

Kenneth Frank Hanson, 79, of Bemidji, MN died Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Neilson Place in Bemidji.

Ken was born on August 19, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Frank and Henrietta Hanson. After graduating from Harper High School in 1964, he went on to study at Washburne Trade School for three years.

After graduating as a Carpenter Apprentice, he started his career as a life-long carpenter working for many companies and also being self-employed for many of those years. Ken loved to build and built a beautiful cradle that was used by several of his grandchildren.

In 1965, Ken married Carol Ann Mestrovich in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Bemidji in 1974 and purchased a resort on Lake Movil that Ken had visited for fishing vacations. Before Ken’s health declined, Ken and Carol loved to square-dance, play cards with friends and spend time fishing together.

In his final years, Ken loved to spend time with his wife and dog, Bella. He liked to sit in the sun and loved his A&W Root Beer and licorice.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Henrietta, his sister, Lois and infant daughter, Candace Hanson.

Ken is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; their children: Kim (Lonny) Bantz, Karen (Larry) Fullmer, Ken (Terri) Hanson and Kate (Robert) Taylor; grandchildren: Steve Hanson, Cheltse Steele, Courtney (James) Fullmer, Kaylynn (Ben) Harrison, Sam Hanson, Grace Hanson and Samantha Taylor as well as five great-grandchildren.
